Job seeking is an important part of someone’s life. Looking for a job is crucial and sometimes complex. Therefore, in order to make the correct choice concerning our career that suits us the most let’s look at the different aspect we should take into consideration before choosing the correct career path.
There are five important aspect you should take into consideration if you want to make the correct choice about your career.
1) What are you good at, and what do you love to do.
It is important for you to consider what you love to do and which skills you have. Because if you want to choose the correct job then you should make sure that you’re doing something you like if not it would be boring for you and you will show less interest in your work. Moreover, if you want to be the best at what you’re doing, you should make sure that you’re doing something which goes along with your skill and knowledge. (Saracino, 2013)
2. Are you promotion or prevention focused?
Feeling motivated is an essential aspect of job satisfaction. But causes for motivation vary widely from person to person. In general, there tend to be two main motivation types: /
Promotion-focused professionals are classic creative and entrepreneurs. They work quickly, seize new opportunities and think abstractly.
Prevention-focused professionals are just the opposite, focused on maintaining the status quo and protecting all they’ve worked on. These professionals prefer planning, reliability, thoroughness and analytical thinking.
While we all need a little bit of promotion- and prevention-oriented thinking, it’s important to determine which way suits you the most before diving down a career path. (Saracino, 2013)
3. The best environment for your personality type.
Choosing the correct environment is very important in your decision process. You should consider which environment suits you the most. For instance: If you prefer to work in crowded places with lots of people around then you probably consider working in a loud sales office. (Saracino, 2013)
4. What kind of lifestyle do you want?
Most jobs start off with at least a few years of hard work at lower pay. What’s more important is looking ahead at people well into a career track to determine whether the lifestyle they lead is desirable to you. Some factors that you should take into consideration is the amount of control they have over their own time, their salary and the amount of travel involved, among other factors. (Saracino, 2013)
5. Where do you want to live?
“While not essential for every career type, determining where you want to live can be an important part of the career search process. This is especially true for jobs that are focused in certain regions. If you want to work in the magazine industry, then you’ll probably need to move to New York City. Wheat farmer? The Midwest. Anthropologist? Just about anywhere.” (Saracino, 2013)
